Ganga action plan is a plan launched by Government of India. Ganga action plan was launched to reduce the population on Ganga river. Ganga action plan was launched on 1985.Government already spent 901.71 crore rupees under Ganga action plan. But the plan failed to decrease population load on Ganga river. 2,000,000 people bathe in Ganga river daily. Ganga river is filled with chemical wastes, sewage and even human and animal remains which is dangerous for human health. Ganga river flows from Gangotri to the Bay of Bengal. It covers 29 cities and 48towns. Cabinet approved Ganga action plan to save environment. This was renamed at 1995 as National river conservation authority. This plan consisted of core and non-core schemes. Core sector schemes consists mainly sewage pumping stations, drains etc. Non-core schemes provide river front development, electric and pollution control. Government has made observations that the operation had not succeeded in controlling pollution and making the Ganga river clean.

Ganga jamuna both are ancient rivers.  Ganga jamuna are considered the holy rivers of India. Both the rivers have really been polluted by people now. Government is trying to make it clean but failed because of the heavy population on these rivers. Because of the pollution  Ganga Jamuna Rivers are now disappearing from many of the areas where they used to flow. Ganga Jamuna also provide fertile soil for agriculture with fishing opportunities. So we should save these rivers and make them clean.

Triveni Sangam is a place in Allahabad where three rivers meet- the Ganga, the Yamuna and the Saraswati. The meet of Ganga Jamuna can be recognized with pale yellow colour of Ganga and Blue Color of Yamuna. The Saraswati joins underneath and it is recognized as white color. In the Sangam of Ganga Jamuna, Ganga is 4 feet and Jamuna is 40 feet deep. Both Ganga Jamuna are the source of drinking water to many of the cities of India. So people should pray in the banks of the rivers but should not make it dirty by throwing milk, flowers and other Puja material in the waters. Remains of Human and Animals should not be thrown in the waters of Ganga Jamuna. The rivers should be clean and pure.
